I know it’s cliche, but it truly makes me sad to hear someone doesn’t believe in love, or marriage.

I’m not typically one to be very emotional or sentimental, but I absolutely believe in love and marriage. I can understand why someone would be lead to the conclusion that love is non-existent and marriage is simply a legal way of saying you love someone, because of all the failed marriages and fucked up relationships in the world.

SO for those people - take a step back. Look at all the beautiful, healthy marriages out there. They’re everywhere, if you look. Those old couples you see walking in the park holding hands? They’ve probably been married for decades upon decades. And they’re probably still madly in love, and the best of friends. I believe there’s someone out there for everyone, you just have to be patient. Don’t go looking for them, let them find you. Don’t rush into ANYTHING. Just let it happen. And remember, some people just aren’t meant to be together. Even if it feels that way at first.

People tend to think of marriage as a kind of ball and chain, and that’s not what it’s about. It’s not just legal documentation that you love someone. It’s a beautiful way to show the one you care about that you really, really love them. It’s a celebration of your happiness together. It’s true - you don’t need to prove to the world you love someone. Marry that person because want to them to know how you feel, and no one else.

I say don’t let your poor experiences cloud your idea of love. I say, it exists.

But what do I know.
